Facebook Purity – New Release : v2.5 – I’ve Added a custom text filter, that lets you block posts with user specified words or phrases in them. Also made a couple of other changes : added Picasa Uploader to the default whitelist and also split the application whitelist into two variables for easier maintenance.

Ive updated the Facebook Purity GM script to v2.4 :

v2.4 Changelog

• fixed hide suggestions box option (wasnt working on custom friends list pages)
• tightened up the app filtering ( some apps were getting past the app filter )
• added the ability to hide the following optional “Extras” : tagged/commented/liked photo, tagged in album, commented/liked album, commented/liked link, wall comment, group wall comment.

I fixed the facebook purity (aka fluff busting purity) script to work on custom friend list feeds again, you can get the updated version (2.3c) of the script from the usual place : http://www.fbpurity.com

If you are still on the old fb layout, there is no need to update your script until you get the updated fb layout. If you have acccidentally installed the new version of the script, which doesnt work with the old layout, theres a link to the old version of the script here : FB Purity (aka Facebook Purity)

BTW facebook is currently displaying “No posts to display.Use the Publisher above to add your own” in the Top News + Most-Recent news feeds on peoples homepage, this is not caused by the fb purity script, it seems to be a bug on the facebook site itself.

its not completely finished, as at present im still on the old layout, and was just testing it against some static html files, it might work and it might not, i dont have time to finish it off right now, but will get back to it within the next couple of days to iron out any bugs.

Facebook Purity is a greasemonkey script that cleans the crap off your facebook homepage, leaving behind a more uncluttered viewing experience.

Ive just released a new script update, here are the Facebook Purity v2.3 Release Notes :

• speeded up script loading time by checking if the DOM is ready, rather than waiting for the whole page to load
• fixed the “block app” function for google chrome v4 + hopefully fixed the random script loading problems too
• added “attended event” messages to blocked extras list
• added a new “Extra” option to allow blocking of “commented on status” and “likes status” messages ( see http://extras.fbpurity.com for info on how to enable this)
• added the palm facebook application to the default application whitelist

N.B If you have previously made changes to the scripts Extras blacklist or Application Whitelist, you should make sure you keep a copy of the lists, so you can apply the lists to the new version of the script.

Also, before re-installing, you might need to clear your browser cache. Google Chrome v4 users will need to uninstall the old version (via the extensions menu), clear your browser cache, then reinstall.

Good news for Google Chrome users, with the official release of Google Chrome 4, its now much easier to install the Facebook Purity script, you can now simply click the script link at http://www.fbpurity.com and it will install the script as an extension.

Apparently v4 of Google Chrome is only officially out for Windows at present, its still in beta for Mac and Linux.

*UPDATE* 28/1/2010 Some users had reported that the script was only working intermittently for them on GC4, ive made a fix to the script suggested by user Robbie, if you want to try out the fixed version, uninstall the script (extension), clear your browsers cache, then reinstall it. Let me know if that fixes the problem for you, cheers.
