New extension for Safari 5 called NinjaKit lets you install GM scripts

I just found some great news for Safari 5 users. Theres a new extension called NinjaKit by a Japanese programmer 0xFF that lets you install greasemonkey scripts. Its a much simpler process to install than Greasekit, whereas greasekit required you to also install SIMBL, this extension is self contained and PC + Mac compatible, just install the Ninjakit extension and you can then click on any greasemonkey script link to install the greasemonkey scripts.

The extensions home page is here: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/os0x/20100612/1276330696
and heres an english translation, for those of us who dont speak japanese.

To install NinjaKit you just need to click the “Safari for NinjaKit” link (UPDATE Please note the extension link wont work in the translated page, you need to click it in the original page)

Once you’ve installed that you can then install any greasemonkey script you like, of course not all will be compatible but a lot should be.

Ive tested 3 of my scripts so far on it, Fluff Busting Purity (for Facebook), Flickr : Multi Group Sender and Flickr PM and it seems to work fine :)

Enjoy! :)

  1. a new version of ninjakit was released on 1st August 2010, it now has even better compatibility with Greasemonkey as it now includes 2 more of the GM API commands GM_deleteValue and GM_listValues

  2. Hi,

I’m trying to run a greasemonkey script that requires 1st time setup prior to use. Usually, in firefox you would right-click the greasemonkey icon and click “setup script” and then it would ask you a bunch of customization questions.

Is there any way to get this to work with the Ninjakit extension? I really don’t have a clue how to do this.

    Thanks very much!

  3. sorry, i have no idea, you could ask the extension author…
