Google Groups 2 Beta

Ive just been trying out Google Groups 2 Beta. Its pretty cool, news articles are updated in near real time, none of the old waiting 3 hours for posts to arrive. Theres also some other nice new features, such as the ability to subscribe to Groups and to create your own groups, i think they might be going after the Yahoo groups market with that one...

Found another Free SMS site:

I Found another Free SMS site today: They give 30 free SMS text messages a month and allow international signup and international sending.

I'm pretty sure there will be a GenieTexter script along shortly for this site :)

Update: and here it is :) topupie.xml

As usual you can download it and install it from here or you can wait for it to be added to the service manager, which reminds me, i really should get back to finishing the upload manager off, Dont worry, its nearly done promise! :)

EXTRA UPDATE: The site is no longer giving away free SMS texts. If you are still looking for free texting try another one of the other free SMS service providers listed at the GenieTexter website.

Ive Released a new Genietexter Script called TextitGreetings

New Script: TextitGreetings

No signup required, international sending,

This script lets you send a free predetermined greeting via SMS text message, from a range including International Christmas greetings, International new years greetings, valentines day greetings, mothers day greetings

Usage instructions:
If you havent already downloaded GenieTexter, you will need to do that first. Then you need to use the Service Manager, in the Tools menu to download the script. This script doesnt need a username and password, though the sending page "requires" you to enter your phonenumber and postcode, so just enter your phonenumber and postcode (doesnt have to be your real ones for the username and password and these will be sent to the sending site) Another thing to realise is you will get asked to enter a code number, you can check what code number you need to enter on the web page that should pop up when you click send.

Though the message is a predetermined greeting, u can add something to the end of the message, where it says sent by: xxxx ( the script adds the actual Message that you type for the xxxx part,
you only get 30 characters, but i guess u could enter a small message there

enjoy :D

Proogle - Google search results with PageRank Shown

This is pretty cool, its called Proogle, I dont think it will "live" very long, once Google's lawyers get their claws out hehe. Its basically a Google rip-off, but the difference is it shows the PageRank for each search result. Pretty cool though! ;)

Also by the same guy is this other cool tool, the Link Popularity Checker. It checks 5 different search engines for how many links there are to your site, the search engines checked are Google, AltaVista, MSN, AlltheWeb and Yahoo.

Hmmm i feel another bookmarklet or 2 coming on hehe :)

Wicked! A cool DOM inspector bookmarklet

Steve at has written a cool DOM inspector bookmarklet, it allows you to view the Code for any element on a web page. Very useful for web developers, or just for checking the code behind a link before clicking it.

Ive been looking further around his website, and its got lots of cool javascript there, im particularly impressed by his favelet suite which has lots of useful tools for web developers.

New Improved Google PageRank Bookmarklet

Ive written a new much improved Google Pagerank Bookmarklet, this one uses markusallen's PageRank calculator.

javascript:oldlocation=location.href;n ='','myWindow','resizable,width=220,height=120');n.document.write('<body onload="document.forms[0].submit()">');n.document.write('<form method=post action=>');n.document.write('<INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=name VALUE=value>');n.document.write('<INPUT TYPE=hidden NAME=action VALUE=post>');n.document.write('<input type=hidden name=url value=' + oldlocation + '></body>');n.document.close();

as usual you have to create a bookmark, then copy and paste the above code in as the url, then name it something like Check Google PageRank. It works with either Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. I cant figure out why in the Firefox version, the popup window hides itself behind the main window, if anyone has a clue why this happens and how to fix it please let me know.

Another thing I've noticed is that this bookmarklet doesnt seem to work if you have a popup blockers installed, well in my case it didnt like Proxomitron anyway.
